Oldtimer wie aus 1001 Nacht – Das Scheichtum Katar kürt die schönsten automobilen Klassiker

with the first Concours d'Elegance in the country's history

Arthur and Tim Bechtel accepted the honourable invitation and brought four of their automotive treasures to the small, but thanks to its wealth, influential desert state. A trip into a magical world that combines tradition and modernity in its own unique way.

Under the auspices of the Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, the premiere attracted much attention on the international scene.

The initiative for and organization of the Concours D`Elégance in Qatar was in the hands of the AvD Middle-East, with its president Karl Ulrich Herrmann at the helm. Hermann has dedicated himself to classic automobiles and is managing partner of the Retro Classics exhibition.

Arthur and Tim Bechtel’s team were received with exuberant hospitality and politeness.
The stark contrast between mirrored skyscrapers, cutting edge technology and sheikhs in traditional white robes shows what tremendous development has taken place in recent decades.

The four carefully selected classical treasures spanned a wide range of vintages: a 300 SL Gullwing, its younger brother - a restored 190 SL, a Mercedes Benz 290 Roadster from 1935 and a well-travelled and now internationally-known unique Mercedes Murphy from 1924.

Each automobile from Arthur Bechtel Classic Motors was awarded a prize in its category.

The international jury, composed of personalities from the world's classic car scene, decided the winners according to strict criteria.

This first Concours d'Elegance concluded with the awards ceremony under the night sky. The backdrop for the ceremony was the white stone of the oceanfront amphitheatre.

With great pride Arthur and Tim Bechtel accepted the four awards – further confirmation of the high quality of their vehicles.
