For more than three decades, he has been self-employed in the industry and enjoys the best reputation in the scene. He has always dealt with the repair and restoration of the entire wide range of historic vehicles. This starts with the oldest vehicle, a Bristol from 1902, through a Bentley 4.5 L from 1928, the Holy Grail of Mercedes-Benz history, the Mercedes-Benz SSK, the gems BMW 327/328 all the way through to everything in the automotive glamor world of the 1950s, 60s and 70s which has rank and name. A particular challenge was a series of worn-out Mercedes-Benz 600s from the United Arab Emirates, which had to be professionally restored according to factory standard. And there are only a very small number of specialists that can be counted on one hand.
But not only high-carats are dedicated to Andreas Christophidis with meticulousness, even a VW Beetle, a BMW Isetta or even a Goggomobil applies as it were his passion. And this is not limited to the meticulous care and repair of the technology, but also to the participation of automotive history events. So he was at the legendary Carrera Panamericana already several times as an organizer, as a technical supervisor, as well as an active participant in the process.
This means that Andreas Christophidis has acquired a tremendous amount of knowledge over many years, beyond just everything that has four wheels. Where the crucial basis of his activity, in addition to the high quality of what he does, is the trust he has earned, which he enjoys with his customers, some of them very longstanding. Because that is, as we all know, especially in the classic car sector a very high good.
After many years of contacts between Andreas Christophidis and Arthur Bechtel Classic Motors, a close cooperation between the two automotive institutions has now come about. Together, the workshop operation of Arthur Bechtel will be expanded and brought to a higher level in terms of capacity. This means a new location in the Motorworld Cologne Rheinland (Butzweilerstraße 35-39, 50829 Cologne) whereas the workshop in the Motorworld Region Stuttgart (Graf-Zeppelin-Platz 1 71034, Böblingen) of course for service Work and repairs to the current extent will remain.
Andreas Christophidis himself says about the new cooperation and the new workshop concept: Bechtel stands for special vehicle quality, a familiar environment for customers and employees alike, and for me it is the ideal partner to look after the most exciting vehicles of the customers.
As I write these lines (and that's really not a fairy tale), a visitor comes to us in the showroom. We start a conversation and he tells us that he has been the owner of a MB 300 SL Roadster for over 30 years and that of course - who else - Andreas Christophidis has been taking care of the car. He is, so his statement, simply the best.
